Based on the TLR200 (see 1982 Honda TLR200 and TLR250 Honda Trials History article) Honda developed the TL 125 model adapting same frame, similar gas tank, seat, plastic parts, and using the 125cc four stroke engine.
The model was offered in two plastic colors, Blue and red. Engine was silver Gray, Frame ever in Silver Gray.
Later in 1986 (1989 in Europe) TL 125 was Black engine painted frame in white, also gas tank and front forks. Seat pad was colored in blue.

Dear Mr
ReplyDeleteMay i ask you a question wich chinese engine can swamp on a 1983 tl125, kick star gear doesnt work and the timing chain make a strange noise.
Best regards
George
Hi George,
ReplyDeleteIn fact there is a Chinese Honda engine replicas, but from my point of view this is a wrong way to solve these problems, also having in mind that you have the original Honda engine.
About the chain Cam noise, this is a typical small Honda engine problem.
Chain Cam has a tensioner that needs periodically adjustment. There is two ways to solve it:
1-Adjusting Chain Cam tension with the tensioner screw.
2-Replacing the Chain, the main tensioner and the Chain guide. The cost of these three Honda original spares could be around 90€.
About your Kick start problem, I recommend to show your bike to an expert to see more precisely the problem. I'm sure there is a not difficult solution.
